For the fourth season Jazz In Wageningen together with LoburgLive will organize in 2017 again a series of Jazz concerts on Thursday evenings. Our own Jasper Somsen invites the best jazz musicians of the Netherlands on 7 Thursday evenings this year. Concerts will start at 20:30 and entrance is free 

Jasper Somsen

Dutch double bassist & composer Jasper Somsen (1973) studied Jazz and Classical double bass at the conservatories of Utrecht and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During his career Jasper has performed with some of the very best musicians at the (inter)national jazz scene, a.o.: Joey Calderazzo, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bob Sheppard, Justin Faulkner, André Ceccarelli, Gabriele Mirabassi, Bert van den Brink, Ramón Valle, Toon Roos, Karel Boehlee, John Engels, Ferdinand Povel, Yuri Honing, Eric Vloeimans and vocalists: Humphrey Campbell, Fay Claassen, Rita Reys, Nancy Marano and Lori Lieberman
The Jasper Somsen Group released two internationally highly acclaimed albums: "Dreams, Thoughts & Poetry" (The Music of Enrico Pieranunzi - 2010) and “Sardegna” (2013). Jasper can be heard at more than 20 CD and DVD productions

Maarten Hogenhuis

Martin Hogenhuis (Leeuwarden, 1986) saxophonist and bandleader. He is a member of the power jazz band  BRUUT !, The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble (led by Reinier Baas), Krupa & The Genes and also leads his own trio. In 2013 he won with his trio the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award in the categories Best Band and Best Soloist. The year before, his quartet reached in the final of the Dutch Jazz Competition, where he was awarded the prize for Best Soloist. He received his training at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he received his master's degree in 2014 with honors. Last year, Martin won the second alto saxophonist Laren Jazz Award.

Folkert Oosterbeek

Pianist and Hammond organ player Folkert Oosterbeek (1983) today lives and works in Amsterdam. He holds a master’s degree in jazz piano from the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Beside that he studied with Jason Moran at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Folkert is a founding member of the dutch powerjazz formation BRUUT! with who he has performed all around the world, including the North Sea Jazzfestival, Tokyo Jazz Festival and many TV and radio programs. They just released there fourth album, called ‘Superjazz’. He also is a member of Køgging and a high energy cross-over project Mechanical Duck. Since 2009 Folkert teaches at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
